Radiofrequency Fractional Skin Resurfacing is an innovative, non-surgical skin resurfacing treatment that allows us to offer our patients rejuvenated, more youthful looking skin with minimal down time. The treatment delivers radiofrequency energy through an array of small contact pins at the skin’s surface, creating controlled fractional micro-injuries designed to stimulate renewal and collagen production. The result is an improved skin tone and texture, and lessening of fine lines, wrinkles and acne scars. Since the wounds are so small, there is significantly less downtime and the treatments are much more comfortable when compared to traditional ablative laser resurfacing treatments.
Unlike traditional laser resurfacing, Fractional RF delivers energy beneath the skin’s surface while minimizing damage to surrounding tissue, resulting in faster healing, less downtime, and beautiful natural-looking results. Different than RF Microneedling, which uses needles to deliver RF energy at controlled depths beneath the skin, Fractional RF primarily targets the skin’s surface and superficial layers, making it especially useful for texture, pores, fine lines and resurfacing.

What to Expect with Fractional RF
During Treatment
Your Appointment typically last 45- 75 minutes, depending on the treatment area. A topical numbing cream is applied beforehand to maximize comfort. Most clients describe the treatment as a warm sensation with mild heat and occasional light prickling.
Immediately After Treatment
Immediately after treatment you may experience:
Sensations of burning or stinging are uncommon but may last for 1–2 days. The skin will develop a rough sandpaper-like texture which lasts about one week. In areas off the face, it is common to have a faint grid-like pattern of small dark dots for up to 2–3 weeks.
Over the Next Several Days
Over the next several days your skin may:
Make-up can be applied after the first day to cover redness. Swimming, hot tubs, activities causing heavy sweating and any friction to the skin should be avoided until the skin returns to normal. Most people will not require any time off work or studies. Fresh, healthier skin gradually emerges while collagen continues developing beneath the surface
Results
Many patients notice brighter, smoother skin within the first week. Collagen production continues over the following weeks and months, gradually improving skin texture, firmness, fine lines, pores and the appearance of scars. A series of treatments may be recommended for optimal results, followed by maintenance treatments as needed.
Can Fractional RF and RF Microneedling be Combined?
These treatments cannot be done together on the same day on the same area of the body or face. You can however choose to do a microneedling session on one area of the body and then fractional RF on another part of the body in the same day. These treatments should be completed in a series of sessions repeating or altering the modality of choice (Fractional Radio Frequency or Radio Frequency Microneedling) for the treatment and should be repeated approximately every 4–6 weeks as the skin cells rejuvenate and produce collagen and elastin.
